The Byron Shire Council issued resident parking coupon is for use in the Council designated paid parking areas of Byron Bay. The parking coupon operates as a pre-payment coupon issued on behalf of Council to Shire residents to be used in lieu of having to make payment via the parking technology.
However this is only applicable when a valid parking coupon is clearly displayed on the vehicle with matching registration plate number to which it has been issued. Although payment is not required when displaying a valid parking coupon, time limits are enforced.
The coupon is issued for use in the following designated paid parking Council car parks:
- Main Beach Car Park
- Lawson St North Car Park
- Lawson St South Car Park
- Clarkes Beach Car Park
Parking coupons are issued with an expiry date generally closely aligned with the expiry date of the certificate of registration provided to Council. It is the responsibility of residents that they check the validity of their parking coupon when parking in the Council designated paid parking areas. It is the onus of residents to renew their coupon as required.
Please ensure you park according to sign posted time limits and directions.

Annual application process
The resident parking coupon is an annual coupon that residents are required to apply for each year. The expiry date of the parking coupon is closely aligned to the expiry date of the vehicles certificate of registration. Once the renewal certificate of registration has been receipted through the Road and Traffic Authority, residents need to provide the new valid certificate of registration (and any other required paperwork as described above) to Council for processing.
The onus is on residents to ensure they have a valid parking coupon whilst parked in the Council designated paid parking areas of Byron Bay
